Your Holiday Protection Plan

You can book a Horizon Holiday knowing that Horizon’s special Cancellation Protection provides real peace of mind! Unlike most travel policies Horizon’s Cancellation Protection is free of small print exclusions relating to pre-existing medical conditions. The cover and exclusions are exactly as you see below. As you’ll see from our conditions of hire when you book as the person making the booking, you are responsible for the full hire terms even if you can’t take your holiday as planned. This is only fair to the owner who, on your instructions, has reserved the accommodation exclusively for you.

Our Cancellation Protection is the best and the most exclusive on offer. It will give you security and the peace of mind knowing that if you do have to cancel your booking or curtail your holiday for any of the reasons listed, you will not have to pay the balance-of-hire (and you get your booking deposit back too less the Cancellation Protection Charge.)

Holiday Insurance offers you unrivalled low-cost cover for your party and even gives you breakdown and accident recovery cover for your car once you have started out on your holiday. Your cover starts as soon as your booking has been accepted and thereafter no refund of your premium can be allowed. An accident, theft or car break down can ruin your enjoyment, unless you are properly insured against theft or your money or your luggage, illness accidental injuries and your personal liability. Also included is Travel Sure cover which will get you going again if you if you can not use your car because of breakdown, accident, fire or theft.

Cancellation Protection

Our Cancellation Protection will provide the following benefits if it is necessary and unavoidable for you to cancel or curtail your holiday because any of the Qualifying Reasons have occurred since your booking was accepted:

  1. If you cancel before the balance -of-hire is due and payable, we will:
    • Relieve you of the responsibility for payment of your balance-of-hire.
    • Refund your Initial Payment less the cancellation planb charge.
  2. If you cancel after the balance-of-hire is due and payable, we will:
    • Refund your balance-of-hire (or relieve you of the responsibility for payment of your balance-of-hire if it has not been paid).
    • Refund your Initial Payment less the cancellation plan charge and £16 administration charge.
  3. If you curtail your holiday and return home, we will give you a proportionate refund of the balance-of-hire paid. In the case of multiple or party bookings where more than one accommodation unit is booked at the same time, cover is assessed on each unit individually.

    Qualifying Reasons: Death, accidental bodily injury, illness or admission to hospital (including events caused by pregnancy or childbirth)
    • of you or any member of your party.
    • of any close relative, fiance (e) or close business associate of you or any member of your party.
    Compulsory quarantine of you or any member of your party or your travel being prevented by Government restriction following an epidemic
    • Redundancy qualifying for payment under the terms of the Employment Protection (Consolidation) Act 1978 of you or any member of your party.
    • Unforeseen occupational posting in your present employment or withdrawal of annual leave because of an unforeseen business emergency of you or any member of your party.
    • Hi-jack of you or any member of your party.
    • You or any member of your party being required for jury or witness service in a court of law.
    • Police advising you not to travel due to adverse weather conditions.
    • Police requiring you or any member of your party to attend following theft at your home or place of business.
    • Damage rendering your home, or that of any member of your party, uninhabitable.
    Exclusions
    • Disinclination to travel.
    • Claims as a result of any accident to or illness of your family pets.
    • Any consequences of war and radioactive contamination and similar risks.
    • Changes in your financial circumstances or unemployment, other than redundancy as described above.
    How to claim
    • Notify us in writing immediately the circumstances arise and supply documentary evidence including medical certificates where appropriate, to support your claim. The decision of New Horizon on all claims will be final.

Your Personal Holiday Insurance

Including your car breakdown and accident recovery Insurance

YOU AND EVERY MEMBER OF YOUR PARTY IS COVERED BY OUR SPECIAL HOLIDAY INSURANCE unless you say ‘NO’ on your booking form indicating that you do not require it.

Your Travel Insurance:

  1. Personal Luggage:
    Your baggage, including pedal cycles and household items needed on holiday, is covered if it is lost, stolen or damaged.
    • Up to £1,500 per person.
    • Up to £250 in total for all valuables.
  2. Personal Money:
    Level of cover:
    • Up to £500 per person.
    Main exclusions under 1 and 2: The first £20 of each claim. Unattended baggage unless left in locked holiday accommodation or deposited in a safety deposit box.
  3. Personal Accident:
    Our insurers will pay the following benefits if one of your party is accidentally injured while on holiday:
    Level of cover:
    • Death £15,000 (£2,000 for children under 16).
    • Loss of limb(s) or eye(s) or permanent total disablement £15,000.
    Main exclusion: Taking part in certain hazardous activities including racing, rock climbing, pot holing, scuba diving, ballooning,parascending or skiing on snow.
  4. Additional travel and accommodation expenses:
    We will pay up to £750 in all (not each insured person) for reasonable additional travel and accommodation expenses for your necessary return home or if your return home is delayed as the result of serious injury or illness to a member of your party during the Holiday or for conveyance home in the event of your death.
  5. Hospital Benefit:
    We will pay you £20 for each complete day you are hospitalised as an inpatient during the period of the holiday up to a maximum of £600.
    1. Any claims arising out of an injury or disablementb caused, prolonged or complicated by a pre-existing physical weakness, defect, injury or illness.
    2. Insanity, the use of any alcohol or drugs (except as medically prescribed but excluding drug addiction).
  6. You are not covered for: (exclusions apply to 4 and 5)

  7. Personal Liability:
    This covers your legal liability for accidental injury to any person or accidental damage to their property.
    Level of cover:
    • Up to £2,000,000 per person.
    Main exclusions: Injury or damage caused by your motor vehicle.

Your Travel Sure Insurance

Your holiday could be ruined if you are not able to use your car, New Horizon special cover enables you to take or continue your holiday even if you cannot drive your car because of breakdown, accident, fire or theft.

Travel Sure is a valuable addition to your existing motor vehicle insurance and motoring organisation membership. Travel Sure gives extra cover above that provided by your motor insurance or motoring organisation and is not a replacement for your motor policy.

Travel Sure covers all the cars in your party. It does not matter how old your car is, provided that it is in a good roadworthy condition and is regularly serviced in accordance with manufacturer’s recommendations.

Level of cover:
Insurers will pay a maximum of £2,500 per car for: Either: up to £300 per car for labour charges (including recovery to the nearest garage), for emergency repairs so that you can continue your holiday in your own car.

Or: If your car cannot be repaired within 24 hours:

  • The cost of recovering your car to the nearest garage or railway station.
  • The cost of storing your car at a garage.
  • Up to £80 per day and £1,000 in all to hire an equivalent car
  • Up to £80 per day and £1,000 in all to hire a chauffeur if the sole available driver cannot drive due to illness or accident.

or
Standard rail or coach fares to enable each member of your party to continue the holiday and/or return home.

  • Up to £40 per person per day for hotel accommodation needed because of your breakdown.
  • The cost of recovering the car to your home.

or
Costs incurred in travelling from your home or holiday location to the scene of the breakdown to collect your car after repair.

  • The cost of essential telephone calls up to a maximum of £5.
  • Up to £100 to hire an equivalent car if you still cannot use your car when you have returned home.

Main exclusions:

  • Breakdowns caused by lack of fuel, oil, water or frost damage.
  • The cost of replacement parts.

For non-UK residents cover starts on arrival in the UK and ceases when you leave the UK.
