Things to Do in Norwich
Whilst we have a great range of activities and team-led events to take part in onsite at Seacroft Holiday Village, there are many places within Norfolk that are nearby and great to spend some time exploring. There’s plenty of things to do in Norwich, the capital city of Norfolk, is just a 45-minute drive from Hemsby – perfect for a day of exploration!
If history and heritage is your cup of tea, then Norwich Cathedral and Norwich Castle will be right up your street. You can walk along the city’s Riverside Walk and take a detour to the 900-year-old Cathedral, featuring beautiful Norman architecture and one of the tallest spires in the UK. There are also free guided tours around the Cathedral by volunteer guides, welcoming those of all faiths as well as those without a faith.
Norwich Castle is as old as the Cathedral and is another example of the city’s Norman architecture. Originally built as a palace for William the Conquerer and subsequently doing a 500-year stint as a prison, the Castle is now home to the Castle Museum and Gallery. The museum features pieces of interest from around the region as well as exhibits such as an Egyptian mummy. Take in the artefacts the museum houses whilst also exploring this historic castle, which looks out over Norwich from atop a large hill.
Shopping is also a fantastic option when looking for things to do in Norwich, as the city has many opportunities to do so. The city features 2 shopping centres, intu Chapelfield and The Castle Mall, as well as Norwich’s historic Lanes, which feature many independent retailers, eateries, and more. Norwich is also home to one of the country’s largest open-air markets, Norwich Market, featuring over 180 stalls open Monday to Saturday each week. Norwich also has a whole host of entertainment, places to eat, and leisure to choose from, with 3 cinemas, 5 theatres, the city’s Riverside Entertainment complex, which features a whole host of places to eat and leisure activities, such as a bowling alley, as well as many bars, pubs, restaurants and more within the city centre.
